Recently I came across a social media post where someone was insulting an entire group of people of a different persuasion. While I found myself more likely to agree on the subject with the ‘basher’ the delivery was repulsive. It actually reminded me of the extremists that bomb pro- choice clinics in an effort to protest abortions. Which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!! I am pro-life all the way; which is why it would then be ludicrous for me to attack someone (of a different persuasion) and possibly cause death to that person or persons in my effort to make my stand – for life!
It is then equally ludicrous for me to think that if I were to approach someone and say, “Hey, Stupid, you’re an idiot for making the moronic choice you’re making! You should do what I do!” and think even for a moment that I could ever sway their thinking. I know that personally I would stop listening at ‘Stupid’ and I doubt many (if any) can be persuaded that way!
When it comes to areas of disagreement, we as believers are supposed to be a light in a dark place and our choice should, and in fact must be, what the Word says above what we want!
“But you must be careful so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble.”
1 Corinthians 8:9
