Let’s Grow Up

crave spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation

This past week, our family celebrated one of our children’s birthday. She turned 8 years old! When I posted some pictures of her on Facebook and Instagram, I had somebody comment, “how is that possible?!”

Of course nobody would actually mean that, we all know how this thing works, you’re born and year after year you grow. But it got me thinking. We sometimes feel like we just blinked and ‘suddenly’ our baby is no longer.

But in actuality it doesn’t ‘just happen’! Nothing ‘just happens’.

We moms specifically know that immediately after the birth of a child, immense amounts of time, effort and energy are needed to ensure the growth and overall well-being of that little person! But growth and development never ends.

And so it is with you and me when we get born again. We begin with the milk of the Word of God but we don’t, or at least we shouldn’t stay there. My eight year old is missing some teeth, but she now much prefers meat especially compare to mushed up baby food!

We too must get into the meat of the Word. Don’t just swallow everything you hear, hold it up to the Word and study the scripture! To quote one of my favourite preachers,

“we ought to be as smart as a cow: eat the hay and spit out the sticks!”

– Kenneth Hagin

Ensure that you take time every day to feed your spirit man. Good food, that will grow and develop you and help you become all that God has destined you to be!

“Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment,”

1 Peter 2:2 NLT

“I fed you with milk, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Even now you are still not ready.”

1 CORINTHIANS 3:2 AMP

If you read that second scripture in context, it paints that picture clearly.
Let’s grow up!
Let’s look back one day and if somebody asks ‘how was that possible?’ We can answer, “Well, I got in the Word and I did what it said, and God is good and full of love and grace!!

You, by the grace of God can totally do this!! Be encouraged! Walk in the blessings and favour of God this week!

We’re praying for you!

  1. Thank you for being a source of spiritual meat through the Spirit in you, and making the Word relevant in life for us to see.
