Give Thanks and Worship God First

Preacher:
Passage: Romans 4:18, Matthew 15:21-28, Luke 18:14-19
Service Type:
thank you God for blueberries

You’ve heard it often  – in everything give thanks. Why does it matter? Because speaking what we’re thankful for and giving God the glory for it in worship is part of who we are. We have been created to worship and if we’re not worshipping God we will be worshipping something that doesn’t give us fulfillment in life. This world we live in is unstable (to put it mildly), but God knew that and equipped us with the ability to not get caught up in the things of this world by instilling in us the remedy of worship. Life is unstable but God’s Word is always stable – always true. Start your day with thanks and praise and you’ll find you don’t get caught up in the ups and downs of this world.

Praise and Worship

This says it well how we are made to worship the one that is altogether lovely and worthy!

Light of the world, You stepped down into darkness,
Opened my eyes, let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore You,
Hope of a life spent with You.

So here I am to worship;
Here I am to bow down;
Here I am to say that
You’re my God.
And You’re altogether lovely,
Altogether worthy,
Altogether wonderful to me.

King of all days, oh, so highly exalted,
Glorious in heaven above,
Humbly You came
To the earth You created,
All for love’s sake became poor.

CHORUS

So here I am to worship;
Here I am to bow down;
Here I am to say that
You’re my God.
And You’re altogether lovely,
Altogether worthy,
Altogether wonderful to me.

Here I am to worship;
Here I am to bow down;
Here I am to say that
You’re my God.
And You’re altogether lovely,
Altogether worthy,
Altogether wonderful to me.

And I’ll never know
How much it cost
To see my sin
Upon that cross.
(repeat 2 more times)
